Catherine and Fanny Could Be Homeless: The French version of Premiere magazine ran an article about Jean-Pierre Mocky and his recent appearance on a French television talk show. Apparently, he is working on a project to star Alain Delon, Catherine Deneuve, Fanny Ardant, Marion Cotillard and Jean Reno! About homelessness, no less. OMD as the say in France.
One Book, Two Takes: Over at A Different Stripe, there is a great post about differences in translating. No Tomorrow by Vivant Denon and translated by Lydia Davis was just published as a new translation of his work. Asylum also wrote a post about it but from another translation:
In a recent post on Asylum, John Self reviews Vivant Denon's novella, Point de Lendemain, which we recently published in Lydia Davis's translation as No Tomorrow.He, however, had only the Penguin Syren edition, which was translatedby David Coward, to quote from. We were struck by the differencebetween the two translations, particularly in the very first line ofthe story.Interesting to read if you'd like to see how work is interpreted.
