Quick Hits for Sept. 28: Banned Writers and Euro-Danes

Quick Hits for Sept. 28, 2010

Make this a clickomatic!

Writers in Peril:  Being that it is Banned Book Week, it is important to remember not only what books have already been banned but also those writers that are imprisoned or in danger because of their writing.  PEN America Center has a great page that give the lowdown on who is in trouble in what part of the world. Protecting the freedom to write is vital mission and I hope that some of you readers will give it some face time.

Eurozines Denmark Sitch:
I was turned onto this article over at Eurozine about the current Danish literary flap by Three Percent. It is replete with a most bizarre mind-bender which is explained as thus:

Essentially, a fictional character is suing the novel's author! This has never before been seen in Denmark – and probably nowhere else either.

Um, I think you could take the 'probably' out of that sentence.

What did you think of this article?
