Quick Hits for Oct. 1: Let's Learn about Argentina and Macedonia

Quick Hits for Oct. 1

Watch out for the click monster...

Words Without Borders Cries for Argentina :  It's all about Argentina at the new October issue of Words Without Borders. And man, what a good one.  So much good stuff to read.  I particularly enjoyed Guillermo Martinez's The "I Ching" and the Man of Papers and Silvina Ocampo's The Golden Hare.  As they say, move on from Borges and Cortazar and see who the young Argentinian whippersnappers are.

Did You Say Macedonia?:
You don't hear it too often, but...where have all the good Macedonian writers gone to?  Friend, there just happens to be a terrific gathering of them over at Transcript. The poetry of Aleksandra Dimitrova is raw and powerful and the prose of Venko Andonovski is chilling.  I wish we would hear about Macedonia more often if it is this good.
