The Week in Links - 10.22.11-10.28.11


All I can tell you is that World Literature Today continues to impress and bring to our attention works in translation from new voices.  This issue is focuses on Post-Soviet Literature: Twenty Years After the Fall, but their web exclusive is equally fascinating, Emerging Ukrainian Women Prose Writers: Twenty Years After Independence .  WLT puts a massive amount of work into each issue and it consistently manages to inform and surprise.  Subscribe if you don't already.

Congrats to translator Damion Searls who won this year's Translation award from PEN Center USA.  His translation of Dalkey Archive's Aliss at the Fire by Jon Fosse beat Sarah Green's translation of Symphony in White and Jordan Stump's translation of The Collaborators.

Lots of great stuff over at Asymptote, including beaucoup de Toussaint and a Dutch translation by Lydia Davis of A.L.Snijders work,  but this feature on Eileen Chang is wonderful.

As a fan of Patrick Hamilton, looking forward to this BBC production.
